Podcast Day: Colin Edgar on the UCI Champs

Six months on, Glasgow City Council's Colin Edgar, MBE, joins the Tracks of My Tyres to pull back the curtain on hosting the UCI Cycling World Championships.

How does hosting events like the Champs, and COP26, shape perceptions of a place, how do you get your residents and businesses behind such disruption, what is there to gain - and lose?

It turns out that Glasgow gained plenty, including £129m of GVA, according to the economic impact study just published by EY. But there were plenty of lessons for hosts of future city-wide events to learn from.

Colin covers all that, plus his own cycling journey: a love of BMX, cycling with family and commuting, and the mental health benefits dervied from a ride. And mixed in there are some great music choices. Listen on Spotify here.
