Will Pearson on The Tracks of my Tyres

Podcast Day! This month Velocity caught up with Will Pearson, co-owner of the world's oldest bike shop.

Will tells us about becoming disillusioned with a planning degree, his early years in the music business and then joining the family firm - and dealing with the weight of history.

"Even if the customer didn't spend any money, I always think they should go away with something, a nugget, even if it's just a bit of learning you've given them," Will said. And he is just as generous in interview, sharing insights into the perfect storm facing retailers, an accessories industry in tatters, bike design for "real people" and the advantages of independent manufacture, the Duchenne Dash and much more, both professional and personal (don't mention the budgie smugglers) - head over to Spotify to hear him and four of his favourite tunes.

Chasing the Sun premieres

Velocity took a trip to the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton last night to take in "Chasing the Sun", a new documentary film exploring not just the annual challenge of riding 200 miles, coast to coast, but also some of the side stories of those involved, exemplifying the sheer joy – and sometimes therapy – that cycling can bring.

Here comes the sun...

Our charity partner Club Peloton has launched its summer programme of rides and events for property cyclists, including a tempting tour of Italy.
