BDOVelo launches for 2024
Business networking-on-a-bike group BDO Velo has launched its 2024 season.
BDOVelo founder Chris Grove provides the details:
"As we embark on our 9th season, in our third Olympic year, we are very excited to be joined by former Team GB coach, Monica Greenwood. Monica will be talking about her experiences managing top talent such as Laura Trott and Katie Archibald, as well as sharing stories from her own racing career.
"We very much hope that you will join us at Michael Sodeau’s VIA Atelier on Wednesday 28th February and invite your key contacts to join us. VIA, is a gallery-style cycling concept store in London's iconic Coal Drops Yard, King's Cross – designed and run by cyclists, for cyclists. A fitting venue for our season launch.
"For a decade Greenwood worked as a coach with the Great Britain Cycling Team culminating in being appointed the first female Podium Coach & leading the Women’s Endurance squad to a historic first Olympic Gold medal in the Women’s Madison, alongside Silver in the Team Pursuit at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
"As a teenager, Greenwood aspired to reach the professional ranks, but stopped racing when she was 18 and turned to a career in coaching, working through the ranks from youth to elite coach; she has played a key role in developing much of the country's young cycling talent.
"Over the past five years Greenwood gradually started to return to training and racing herself. Once again, she found herself bitten by the racing bug. Following a departure from the coaching staff in 2022, she went on to win the National Road Series in 2023, take multiple victories and top 5 performances in the UK and Belgium, along with a top 15 finish in her first World Tour race."
