The All-Party Parliamentary Cycling Group (APPCG) has invited Velocity readers to attend the first ever parliamentary Cycling Showcase, in February next year.
"This is the first time the APPCG has put on an event like this but it's based on a format used by other All Party groups," said APPCG project manager Adam Coffman.
"It was originally scheduled for November but things changed because of the timing of the General Election," he told Velocity. "We want to use the showcase to encourage the new government to put more money into cycling. We expect 40 or 50 parliamentarians to attend."
The event will take the form of a drop-in, with an exhibition of 12 organisations including manufacturer Brompton, retailer Halfords, HSBC and Tour of Britain, and campaigning and interest groups such as the Walking and Cycling Alliance, the Beyond the Bicycle Coalition, the Cycle to Work Alliance and CoMo UK
Speakers will be scheduled post-election, and will include MPs involved in transport and cycling-related activities and committees.
The APPCG is a cross-party group of parliamentarians working together to champion cycling in the context of the growing importance of all forms of active travel, to get more people cycling in the UK, more often and safely. It has 90 member organisations.
"If Velocity readers would like to be part of the APPCG and contribute to our policy forum, they are welcome to come along to find out more," Coffman said.
