John Forbes Consulting December ride
“November is a bit of a nightmare for organising a ride as I am away at conferences and things every Friday,” says real estate investment advisor (and cyclist of repute) John Forbes. “So the next ride will be on the highly auspicious Friday 13th December. We can cycle around the lanes as we contemplate the unexpected Jeremy Corbyn government.”
Forbes has a long-standing email list-managed network of (mostly) property industry riders, which he likes to ravage on regular unsupported, rides of about 100km up and down the hills of Kent.
“The ride will be slightly shorter, slightly less hilly and a bit more suburban than usual,” Forbes says. “As it is cycle cross season, I may include a token section of off road, non-technical and easily navigable on a road bike with normal tyres provided that it has not rained heavily the night before. If it has rained heavily it will be like Passchendaele in 1917.
“We will end up at about lunchtime at our flat near Tower Bridge where Mrs Forbes has promised to prepare some simple but hearty seasonal food items and accompanying alcoholic beverages.”
